What Form That Takes She Still Doesn’t Know

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Invincible season 3, episodes 1-3.

Gillian Jacobs teases what to expect from Atom Eve’s struggles as a superhero in Invincible season 3, especially as the character begins attending college. Eve’s attempts to help people went awry in season 2 when she used her powers to build a beautiful park from the destruction in Chicago, only for the park to collapse and to nearly destroy a nearby building. Invincible season 3’s story sees Eve enrolling in college and taking an architecture class so she can apply the principles to her powers and help build more safely in the future.

While speaking with ScreenRant, Jacobs discusses why Eve feels conflicted in season 3 and how she is still struggling with what happened in Chicago. She explains that Eve is just as compassionate as ever and determined to use her powers to help people in need. As she works on figuring out what this looks like, Eve is still isolating herself in some ways and still figuring out what being a superhero looks like for her. Check out Jacobs’ comments below:

Yeah, so she feels very conflicted about being a superhero, full stop, and how she can use her powers to help people. She’s still really grappling with the consequences of what happened in Chicago, that’s really weighing heavily on her. She’s still isolating herself away from everyone, so I think she is unsure of what to do and how to help. She wants to help, deeply, that’s what she knows. She wants to help, but what form that takes she still doesn’t know. So, yeah, she’s got an interest in architecture and all these things, and it all plays into her powers. So, she’s still kind of on that journey that we saw at the end of season 2, of, “What is the best use of my powers? How can I actually help people?”

What This Means For Invincible

Eve Is Taking Important Steps Forward

Even though Eve is still grappling with difficult questions about her identity and what it means to be a superhero, she has already taken significant steps forward in season 3. After ignoring the construction workers’ warnings about the park in season 2 and believing she knew better than them, Eve has now accepted that she has a great deal to learn. An architecture class and other college classes can go a long way in helping her learn how to safely build for others in a way that will last.

After Invincible season 2’s ending, it is exciting to see Eve continuing to grow as a superhero and as a young woman. Between the main series and getting her own special prequel episode, Eve is one of the best developed characters in the Prime Video show, and that continues to be the case in season 3.
