Afghanistan displayed top-class cricket and defeated Bangladesh comprehensively in the third and final ODI at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, completing a 3-0 clean sweep. While Ibrahim Zadran and Bilal Sami delivered standout performances with bat and ball respectively, it was Rashid Khan who stole the spotlight with a breathtaking googly that castled Towhid Hridoy — a moment that perfectly captured his mastery of spin bowling.
Rashid Khan’s magical googly gets rid of Towhid Hridoy
It was a moment of pure brilliance from Afghanistan’s premier spinner. Bowling his very first delivery of the spell, Rashid produced a classic dismissal that left both Hridoy and viewers stunned. The leg-spinner delivered a sharp googly that beat Hridoy completely for pace and movement. The Bangladesh batter, attempting to play off the back foot, was far too late as the ball skidded through and crashed into the off-stump.
The crowd at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium erupted as the Afghan players celebrated the trademark Rashid dismissal. It was yet another reminder of why Rashid is widely regarded as one of the most lethal spinners in modern cricket. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) shared the clip on social media, and the video quickly went viral among fans.

Afghanistan dominate from start to finish
Earlier in the match, Afghanistan’s batters laid the platform for their commanding win. Opener Zadran continued his superb form, scoring a classy 95 off 111 deliveries, while Mohammad Nabi added late fireworks with a blistering 62 from 37 balls, propelling the team to a formidable 293/9 in 50 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz also chipped in with 42, ensuring Afghanistan’s top order remained solid.
In reply, Bangladesh never found their footing against a relentless Afghan attack. Bilal was the chief destroyer, claiming a five-wicket haul (5/33) that dismantled the visitors’ batting lineup. Rashid complemented him perfectly, finishing with 3 wickets for just 12 runs in six overs, including the unforgettable googly that bowled Hridoy. Bangladesh eventually folded for just 93 runs in 27.1 overs, suffering a heavy 200-run defeat.
The victory marked Afghanistan’s most dominant ODI series win in recent memory. They had earlier triumphed by 5 wickets in the opening game and 81 runs in the second before producing this emphatic performance in the third ODI.
