Bangladesh all-rounder Mahedi Hasan produced one of the highlights of the Asia Cup 2025 clash against Pakistan with a sensational caught-and-bowled effort to dismiss Mohammad Haris. The moment came during the 18th over of Pakistan’s innings, leaving fans and commentators stunned by the sheer sharpness of the catch.

On the third ball of the 18th over, Mahedi bowled a fuller delivery which Haris struck back firmly. It was a powerful shot, hit straight down the ground with plenty of force. For a split second, it looked destined to race past the bowler, but Mahedi’s lightning-quick reflexes changed the script.

Showing brilliant athleticism, Mahedi stuck out his hand in his follow-through and managed to cling onto the ball in a flash. The reaction was almost instantaneous, giving him little time to think. Haris, who was playing a handy cameo, could only watch in disbelief as he was forced to walk back after scoring a valuable 31 runs.

The crowd roared in appreciation, acknowledging not only Haris’s contribution but also Mahedi’s exceptional effort that tilted momentum back towards Bangladesh in the death overs.

Pakistan reach a fighting total despite early setbacks

Despite suffering early setbacks, Pakistan showed resilience to finish at a fighting 135/8 in their 20 overs. Their top order once again faltered, but middle-order cameos helped them reach a respectable total.

Mohammad Haris was the top scorer with 31, while Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with 25, providing much-needed stability in the middle overs. Their contributions ensured Pakistan crossed the 130-mark, which at one stage looked doubtful given Bangladesh’s fiery start.

For Bangladesh, it was a combined bowling effort. Taskin Ahmed led the way with impressive figures of 3/28, using his pace and accuracy to unsettle Pakistan’s batters. Mahedi Hasan, apart from his stunning catch, bowled with great control and picked up a key wicket. Rishad Hossain also struck twice, maintaining pressure throughout.
