Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and other cricket stars lead congratulatory messages for India’s T20 World Cup 2026 triumph



The cricketing world united in celebration as India secured their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title with a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. From batting icon Virat Kohli to the two-times World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni, legendary figures from the sport poured in heartfelt congratulations for the Men in Blue’s historic achievement .

Virat Kohli hails champion ‘Team India’

Virat Kohli, who remains one of India’s greatest match-winners, took to social media to express his admiration for the team’s dominant performance throughout the tournament. The former captain, who now features only in ODIs for India, posted a picture of the victorious squad with a message that captured the nation’s pride.

“Champions once again. Phenomenal victory for us in the big final at Ahmedabad. Great character shown by the boys under pressure throughout the tournament and absolutely no one could come close to this talented bunch of players. Congratulations to the whole management and the whole support staff group for being part of this amazing feat. Very well deserved. Jai Hind,” Kohli wrote on Instagram.

Veteran stumper MS Dhoni, who lifted the inaugural trophy of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, showered praise on the team for their outstanding performance in the summit clash. The Captain Cool also mentioned that head coach Gautam Gambhir looks good while smiling.

“History gets created at Ahmedabad,big congratulations to the team and support staff and to all the fans of Indian Cricket Team worldwide.such a pleasure to see all of u play.Coach Sahab smile looks great on u,intensity with smile is a killer combo, very well done.enjoy guys (BUMRAH ke baare mein kuch na likhoon tou hi acha hai.CHAMPION BOWLER),” Dhoni posted.

International cricketers join congratulatory chorus

The celebrations extended beyond Indian shores, with cricketing legends from around the world acknowledging India’s historic achievement. England’s Kevin Pietersen hailed Team India , while former Australia captain Michael Clarke described India as “the undisputed kings of T20 cricket”.

South Africa’s Dale Steyn, who played against India in numerous memorable encounters, posted: Well done India  When you walk, talk and play the part, you often get the part too! Congratulations, World Cup Winners X3.”

“Hats off to #TeamIndia. Champions once again! Respect,” AB de Villiers captioned his post.
