Upcoming Horror Series Based On Bestselling Book Needs To Include 1 Perfect Cameo

An exciting upcoming horror TV show based on a book already has the perfect choice for a cameo. While horror is much more popular on the big screen, the genre has carved out its own place in TV shows as well. This means many great horror books are becoming TV shows.

One of the most popular recent projects is It: Welcome to Derry by Andy and Barbara Muschietti. The HBO Max show proves that TV horror can be just as spooky, adrenaline-inducing, and bloody. It was successful enough that Andy and Barbara Muschietti are hard at work on Welcome to Derry season 2.

Luckily, this won’t be their only foray into horror TV shows. The production duo has already optioned the rights to a wildly popular horror slasher book that’s perfect for the big screen. Luckily, the show already has a horror cameo we’re begging to happen.

Barbara & Andy Muschietti Are Adapting The Final Girl Support Group For HBO Max

IT duo Barbara and Andy Muschiett have an exciting project on the way. They’re spearheading HBO Max’s onscreen adaptation of the book The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix. The story is an homage to the past scream queens, with each main character being a reference to a character from a slasher film.

Marilyn

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

Julia

Dani

Halloween

Heather

Nightmare on Elm Street

Adrienne

Lynette

Silent Night, Deadly Night

Chrissy

Carrie

The story centers on six, previously seven, women who formerly experienced a slasher movie-like massacre that left them as the only survivors. They meet up to support one another with the trauma and grief. However, everything changes when one of their members disappears, and they suspect a killer is after them.

The Final Girl Support Group includes meta-commentary on the slasher genre and true crime. However, it’s also very much a love letter to the greats of the genre. The story almost feels like it was made to be a horror movie or TV show. Luckily, that idea is coming to fruition.

The Final Girl Support Group Needs A Jamie Lee Curtis Cameo

Because the book focuses on 70s and 80s slashers, the actors involved in most of the referenced movies are still alive, but including all of them appearing would be a bit of overkill. It would distract from the phenomenal story and characters. Plus, the actors, who haven’t been named yet, cast as the final girls deserve their chance to shine.

However, one cameo feels like a must-have. Jamie Lee Curtis is perhaps the most iconic scream queen of all time. She played Laurie Strode in Halloween, the movie widely credited with starting the slasher craze, as well as six sequels. She also played Kim Hammond in Prom Night, Alana Maxwell in Terror Train, and Dean Cathy Munsch in Scream Queens.

Curtis also has a whole slew of other horror movie roles outside the slasher genre. Her influence is absolutely undeniable. If they were going to choose a single scream queen to appear, it would have to be her.
