One of the best things going for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is that it features a talented cast. The film is led by Kaya Scodelario, who did great work on Skins and in The Maze Runner films. She plays iconic game character Claire Redfield, while Thunderbolts* star Hannah John-Kamen plays Jill Valentine.

There’s also Avan Jogia of Zombieland: Double Tap fame, Tom Hopper of The Umbrella Academy, and Robbie Amell from Upload. Veterans Neal McDonagh and Donal Logue are also part of this well-rounded cast that helped bump the quality of the film up.

Another reboot of the franchise, this film will come from director Zach Cregger. He’s one of the hottest names in horror filmmaking thanks to his work on Barbarian and Weapons, two of the most-talked about and best-reviewed recent horror movies.

Cregger has said that it will be an original story set in the franchise’s universe and it’s a story he’d have told even without the IP. That could mean that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is the last installment that’s somewhat true to the game, yet there’s still excitement about the series’ future.
