Twilight Princess Is Finally Returning With All-New Content

The Legend of Zelda has enjoyed some real high points as a series over the years (as well as some notable lows), and everyone has their own personal favorites, often depending on which game dropped at that ideal point during their childhoods.

For many, that zenith is represented by the realism and brilliant narrative offered by Twilight Princess, a game that doesn’t really get enough attention, perhaps due to the fact that it released in that murky period during the transition from the GameCube to the Wii.

As such, it can be a little difficult to organize a setup to play it, and Nintendo still hasn’t released it on the Nintendo Switch, as they have done with many other highlights in the series. Fortunately, a new PC port is on the way, and it’s making significant progress towards a full release for players on the platform.

Zelda: Twilight Princess On PC? Sign Us Up

As first reported by PC Gamer, a playable PC release of Twilight Princess is on the way thanks to a team of dedicated developers who are working hard to make the game playable on the platform. That comes after its original GameCube code was successfully decomposed towards the end of 2025, opening the door for this port to become possible.

The project, known as Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn, has just been shown off on YouTube for the first time, and it’s pretty safe to say that it looks like the team has done a remarkable job thus far. That video takes viewers through the game’s very long introduction, a segment which the developer’s now describe as “completely crashless”.

The next step for the project is to open source it via GitHub, to allow more folks around the world to work on it and, ideally, improve it along the way. Not that it’s not already in a pretty exciting state, with Native 60 FPS support, Mac and Linux compatibility, mouse and keyboard input (as well as controllers), and a main menu with modifiable graphics options.

Modders Have Already Added New Content

At the same time, this version of Twilight Princess is absolutely one that will be open to the immense skills of the modding community. Despite the game itself being a little way from completion at this point, modders already have several projects underway that should be ready to release around the same time.

As with all ROM hacks and adaptations of this ilk, Twilight Princess: Courage Reborn does not contain any of Nintendo’s proprietary assets, and players have to provide their own copy of the original game via a GameCube disc to play it with all of the visual and audio bells and whistles.
