Illya Zabarnyi is a target for Tottenham Hotspur, with the North London club rumoured to be weighing up a £33 million offer for the Ukranian centre-back. Since the 22-year-old arrived at the Cherries from Dinamo Kiev, the defender has become one of the club’s most important defenders and now Spurs are readying their initial offer for the starlet.
Zabarnyi joined Bournemouth in the 2022-23 season and forged an excellent partnership alongside Dan Huijsen at the heart of Bournemouth‘s defence last year. Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth coach, wants to keep Zabarnyi as he is seen as an important member of the club’s squad. However, the club are rebuilding their defence after also selling Milos Kerkez to Liverpool earlier in the summer. It is understood that Tottenham are looking for a defensive replacement for Cuti Romero, should the Argentine opt to leave the club as widely expected.
The lure of Champions League football for Spurs next year will be hard for Zabarnyi to turn down, as well as the newly installed manager Thomas Frank in charge at White Hart Lane.
