Tottenham are moving closer to a permanent transfer deal for Portugal international midfielder Joao Palhinha in the January transfer window from Bayern Munich after being assured by his parent club that a deal could be concluded in the winter transfer window. Spurs have agreed a loan move until the end of the season in a deal worth 1.5 million euros.
Former Fulham midfielder Palhinha spent two years with the Cottagers before Bayern made a transfer deal for 51 million euros. After 17 appearances in the Bundesliga, there had been hopes he would be a first-team regular for the future but Spurs instead swooped for the talented midfielder.
It is understood that Tottenham agreed a 30 million euro fee to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis, and that transfer deal could be executed in January, and Spurs are so convinced that the player is right for the club that a deal will be made complete soon.
Spurs have been performing well so far this campaign, and Palhinha has been credited as a big part of that early season success.
