The Troubles Are Far From Over But Season 5’s Fate Is Up In The Air

Warning! This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 10.

Mayor of Kingstown season 4 has come to an emotional end, but the McLusky brothers are not out of the woods yet. After a tense season that saw two major gangs come into conflict over and over again, and the Mayor’s brother, Kyle McLusky, face repeated threats against his life in Anchor Bay prison, Mayor of Kingstown season 4 has finally wrapped up with a tense finale.

Kyle finally ended the life of the man who was manipulating him and who murdered his wife after escaping prison, Merle Callahan. Bunny led a successful attack on the Colombians both inside the prison and in Kingstown, and Mike has managed to develop some trust with the new warden, Nina Hobbs.

However, with the Sicario escaping from Bunny’s interrogation, and the fallout from the prison riot that saw Kevin, Bunny’s man on the inside, lay dying in Cindy Stephens’ arms, there is still a lot that needs to be put in order before Kingstown, or Mike McLusky, for that matter, can rest easy.

How The Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4 Finale Proved Callahan Was A Coward

Callahan’s history with the McLusky brothers dates back to Mike’s time in prison. During this period, Mike needed to find a family on the inside to survive, and he found one with the Aryan Brotherhood, led by Callahan. Of course, Mike’s core beliefs didn’t exactly align with those of his new fraternity, but they ensured his survival in prison.

Then, years later, Callahan had the chance to try and recruit Mike’s younger brother, Kyle, when the pair ended up as cell neighbors in Ad Sec. Throughout all of these times, Merle Callahan managed to put on a front, appearing as a brave, strong, and fearless individual.

With an army of followers, Callahan stood tall, and he repeatedly struck fear into the hearts of his naysayers through cruel and horrifying actions. Even in his last living moments, Callahan tried to assert control over Kyle by goading him about his deceased wife. However, when Kyle shot Merle in the leg, he screamed out in agony. All of his bravado and gravitas disappeared, and what was left was an old, dying coward.

Why The War For Control Of Kingstown Is Just Beginning

Throughout Mayor of Kingstown season 4, Bunny has been working to expand his control of the territories in Kingstown by partnering up with Frank Moses. Now, Frank betrayed Bunny, and in order to get revenge, Mike coordinated a plan to get Frank locked up, so Bunny could kill him once he arrived in Anchor Bay.

However, the Crips have also faced significant pushback from the Colombian Cartel. With deliveries interrupted and safe houses attacked, the Crips have struggled to get the upper hand. And while Bunny and his men successfully shut down a major operation in the season finale before capturing the persistent Sicario, the war isn’t over just yet.

While interrogating the young Sicario, Bunny leaves the room briefly to speak with Mike, but when he returns, his men have been killed, and the Sicario has escaped. This is no ordinary assassin, and with his powerful allies, a storm is heading straight for Kingstown that could take Bunny down for good.

Why Warden Nina Hobbs Is In Danger In Mayor Of Kingstown Season 5

Nina Hobbs arrived at the start of Mayor of Kingstown season 4, and she has since been revealed to be working for the Colombians. However, with the Colombians threatening her daughter’s life, Nina has since begun working with Mike, even taking instructions from him about how to run the prison.

While Mike and Bunny’s plans should have put an end to the Cartel takeover in Kingstown, the Sicario’s escape could present a major threat, especially for Nina Hobbs after she betrayed her former loyalties to work with Mike. No doubt, the Cartel is unlikely to let her live after this latest betrayal.

Why Cindy Stephens’ Future In Mayor Of Kingstown May Not Be At Anchor Bay

Cindy Stephens arrived at Anchor Bay at the same time as the new warden; however, her time in Kingstown has taken her in a very different direction. Cindy was surprised to see the terrible things she has witnessed as a CO, but in just the last two episodes of season 4, she has been forced to kill a fellow CO, and now to watch the life drain out of the eyes of another.

With several kids at home and her role as a single mother, Cindy likely needs the money to keep her family afloat, but considering how dangerous Anchor Bay is, she might choose to move on. Whether that means trying to get a transfer to somewhere nearby, like the women’s prison, or somewhere far away remains to be seen, but it seems unlikely that she would continue working at Anchor Bay.

What Comes Next For Mike McLusky In Kingstown

Mike’s role as the Mayor means he tries to be impartial, supporting the local police and the local gangs, in order to maintain balance in the community and avoid unnecessary bloodshed. However, Mike has spent a great deal of time supporting Bunny due to their longstanding friendship.

Mike feels stuck in Kingstown, but he has grown increasingly weary of the city as it takes more and more from him. However, he is not one to back down from a fight or to leave a job unfinished. For that reason, it makes sense for Mike to stick around and deal with the Cartel conflict before trying to move on.

Will There Be A Mayor Of Kingstown Season 5?

As of right now, season 5 of Mayor of Kingstown has yet to be announced. Despite season 4 wrapping up, the popular Taylor Sheridan series has provided no update or confirmation about the future of the show. However, looking at Sheridan’s record with previous shows and his ongoing relationship with Paramount, it seems highly likely that the show will get renewed.

For now, the previous four seasons of Mayor of Kingstown will have to suffice, and looking back at how much has happened, it’s clear that Kingstown attracts all the wrong kinds of attention.
