The Defenders have slowly been coming together again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Krysten Ritter set to reprise the role of Jessica Jones in Daredevil: Born Again season 2, a new era for the Marvel-Netflix heroes is happening in Phase 6.
However, while Charlie Cox and Ritter will be reunited, Finn Jones (via @Cosmic_Marvel) is fueling theories that Iron Fist may be heading back to the MCU. The British star shared on his Instagram story where he was by a Taekwondo dojo, featuring a person with a high kick, which can be found below:
Jones last portrayed Danny Rand in Iron Fist season 2, which was released on Netflix on September 7, 2018. The Game of Thrones actor also showed up in Luke Cage season 2, as it became the final season of Mike Colter’s MCU show after its release on June 22, 2018.
It wasn’t until 2024 that Marvel Studios formally made all of the Defenders shows, including the eight-episode team-up event, canon to the MCU timeline. While there aren’t any official plans to bring Iron Fist and Luke Cage back, it’s not stopping the theories.
During his appearance at Edmonton Expo on September 20, 2025, Colter cleverly responded to the question about Luke Cage coming back to the MCU, saying, “I don’t know why people keep asking me this. There’s no signs. It’s not like they’ve just recently revived one of the Marvel Netflix shows.” With Daredevil: Born Again season 3 already confirmed, the door is far from closed on more Defenders showing up.
The end of Daredevil: Born Again episode 9 saw Mayor Wilson Fisk officially ban superheroes and vigilantes in New York, which would affect characters like Jessica, Luke, Danny, as well as Spider-Man. With Matt Murdock reuniting with Ritter’s hero, time will tell if the other NYC characters will be factored into the season 2 plot.
While Danny may not be fully confirmed to be back in the MCU just yet, Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is officially set to premiere in March 2026, on Disney+.
