The MCU Comeback Fans Have Been Waiting For Since 2018 Is Finally Happening

2026 is about to be a milestone year for one Marvel project that fans have been dying to see since 2018. While the MCU’s Multiverse Saga hasn’t fared quite as well as Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige may have hoped, there have been some major changes that have led to exciting new projects that appear to be reigniting the excitement for the franchise as a whole.

But before the Infinity Saga wrapped up in 2019, there was another Marvel series that was a victim of changes behind the scenes. Daredevil, starring Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, was one of the best shows on Netflix. But when the show was cancelled, fans were desperate to see these characters assimilate inside the MCU.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Is A Fresh Start For The Show

Now, Daredevil: Born Again season 1 obviously came out in 2025, but that season had the challenging task of placing established characters inside a new universe, while also connecting the dots to earlier cameos from the central cast as seen in Hawkey, Echo, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and She-Hulk.

Not to mention, the series was written and developed by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, but the story was massively reworked by Dario Scardapane. With all of that in mind, season 1 had a lot riding on it, and a lot of things that needed to be resolved and explained, but season 2 is a different story.

Why Born Again Season 2 Will Feel More Like The Original Daredevil

Now, Drew Goddard hasn’t been brought back to make the show more like the original, but Dario did prove in his reworkings that he understood the character, and that his tone and style worked well with the version that fans were already familiar with.

More than that, Dario’s wealth of experience in crime dramas and thrillers means that he is an exceptional fit for making this show into something that fans recognize. With intense drama, spectacular action, and plenty of hard-hitting moments spliced with political drama. It’s a perfect match for this version of the character and the creatives behind the scenes.

Rebooting Charlie Cox’s Daredevil Would’ve Been Disastrous

Charlie Cox has proven himself to be an incredibly beloved version of Matthew Murdock, and likewise, D’Onofrio’s performance as Wilson Fisk has been praised. When the show was canceled, it was incredibly controversial, and the fanbase was very vocal about keeping Cox on as the Red Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

If the MCU had tried to erase the success of Daredevil and started fresh, but even more so, if they tried to recast the roles, it would have likely been one of the biggest mistakes in the MCU’s history. Right now, Daredevil: Born Again is proving to be one of the most hotly anticipated projects coming down the pipeline, along with other major MCU releases in 2026.
