Star Wars already isn’t holding back on Easter eggs in their next movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu, as its first trailer contains a head-nod towards the now-defunct Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser resort. Located at the Walt Disney World Resort, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was a three-day, two-night immersive experience that ran from March 2022 to September 2023.
While the Galactic Starcruiser may be permanently closed, its legacy lives on in the Star Wars franchise, as the titular cruise ship, named the Halcyon, has been forever embedded in Star Wars canon. Both Beth Revis’ novel The Princess and the Scoundrel and the comic miniseries Halcyon Legacy explore it in depth. Now, however, it’s leaping off the pages.
The Mandalorian And Grogu Includes An Ad For The Halcyon
The first trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu includes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it advertisement for the Halcyon, reflected in a puddle Din Djarin walks through just before the bar fight. When flipped and mirrored, as pointed out by Twitter/X user @hashtag7thson, it reads “HALCYON: SEE THE GALAXY” in Aurebesh, with an image of the ship.
This will mark the first time the Halcyon is acknowledged on-screen in Star Wars, as brief as its appearance is. This is certainly the perfect way to honor the legacy of the Galactic Starcruiser, no matter the extent of its actual role in the movie – though it’s not impossible to imagine that its role could be expanded upon.
The Mandalorian And Grogu Is Repaying An Easter Egg Favor
Either way, what’s clear is that The Mandalorian and Grogu is honoring what the Galactic Starcruiser did for the TV show itself, which contained several notable Easter eggs towards The Mandalorian. In the ship’s Engineering Room, a rhydonium station contained fuel from the refinery on Morak, which debuted in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 7 “Chapter 15: The Believer.”
The Halcyon also served a meal item called “Sorgan’s Stew” at its lunch buffet, which used a crayfish to represent the krill that the farmers harvested in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 4 “Chapter 4: Sanctuary.” This brought the world of The Mandalorian to this highly themed experience, tying the two eras even more closely together.
It’s also worth noting that the Halcyon was canonically built by an Anzellan named Shug Drabor, and while Shug is no longer around at this point in the Star Wars timeline, Anzellans have become a core part of The Mandalorian‘s story – and they will be returning in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Although the story of the Galactic Starcruiser specifically took place during the Star Wars sequel trilogy, The Princess and the Scoundrel details an adventure taken just six to seven years before The Mandalorian, which makes it stand to reason that The Mandalorian and Grogu‘s Easter egg could mean something more for either its present or future story.
The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters May 22, 2026.
