With the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda coming up, gamers everywhere have been keen to learn exactly how Nintendo plans to celebrate the milestone. We’re already getting LEGO Zelda in 2026, but now we’ve been treated to a brand-new trailer showing off a special new release that Zelda fans won’t want to miss.
February 21 marks 40 years since The Legend of Zelda first launched on the NES, and fans obviously have their own expectations for this anniversary. Personally, I’d be happy with Wind Waker HD on Nintendo Switch 2 and maybe a first look at the next game in the series, but what exactly Nintendo has planned remains to be seen. We do, however, have one new treat to look forward to.
Zelda’s 40th Anniversary Is Heating Up
RIP to my wallet (I assume)
First 4 Figures has announced it’s getting in on The Legend of Zelda‘s 40th anniversary with a brand-new release of its own. Over on YouTube, the toy maker unveiled a first look at a new Link statue, based on the swordsman’s appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
A full reveal is expected to take place “soon”, and pre-orders are to open online on February 26. You can also get $10 off pre-orders when they go live if you sign up to the First 4 Figures newsletter, although pricing has yet to be revealed, so I couldn’t tell you whether or not $10 off is that good a deal at this stage.
Some of the comments under the announcement teaser point out that First 4 Figures has already released a very similar-looking Link statue, although it sounds as if this new model will be higher quality and feature some exclusive features like fancy lighting effects.
2026 Is Set To Be A Big Year For Zelda Fans
Mark your calendars
While many of us are probably hoping for something like an official Ocarina Of Time remake it’s unlikely. However, I’m convinced 2026 is still going to be a huge year for us Zelda fans, just in other ways. There’s no way we’re getting the next mainline entry, but we will almost certainly see it officially announced, most likely alongside a first trailer for the upcoming Zelda movie.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will get some at least one Legend Of Zelda port or remaster, if not a full-on remake of one of the games. Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD are safe bets, but I wouldn’t turn remakes of the Oracle games either.
