Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Green Lantern Corps #14
The Green Lantern mythos in the DC Universe has always been one of the largest corners of DC Comics, with multiple exciting heroes and villains wielding the various colors of the Emotional Spectrum. Now, the lore is expanding even further now that the DCU’s debut Green Lantern just received a major status quo shift.
Remarkably, none other than Guy Gardner has undergone a fascinating transformation about a year after his live-action debut as the DCU’s first on-screen Green Lantern in 2025’s Superman. Receiving a brand-new costume and title, Guy Gardner’s new Green Lantern transformation in the comics is ironically thanks to Superman himself.
Green Lantern Guy Gardner Just Became DC’s “Allsight”, Complete With A Brand-New Costume
This brand-new change for Guy Gardner comes in the aftermath of the recent King Omega tournament, a cosmic conflict that reshaped several characters across the DC Universe. During the event, Guy was infused with massive amounts of Alpha Energy after Superman chose to share his King Omega power with his fellow heroes.
Now, Green Lantern Corps #14 reveals Guy Gardner’s evolution into a being known as the “Allsight.” Along with the new title comes brand-new green robes as well as a return to Guy’s classic bowl-cut hairstyle. He’s got his own temple on Oa and is now revered as a prophet by multiple Lanterns from various corps. Hilariously, this is something Guy both loves and hates.
The reason for all the worship and new threads is that Guy now possesses the ability to perceive every Emotional Entity on the Spectrum, the living embodiments of the various emotions that power Lantern rings. This includes Parallax as the embodiment of yellow fear and Ion, the embodiment of the green light of willpower. However, all the entities are currently quite vulnerable.
As a result, Gardner creates a task force of different Lanterns dedicated to locating vulnerable Emotional Entities scattered across the universe. Once found, these powerful beings will be brought back to Oa, where they can be protected. All in all, it’s quite an impressive promotion for one of the Green Lantern Corps’ most hot-headed and stubborn members.
Guy Gardner Has Become A Pretty Big Deal (On-Screen & On The Page)
What makes this new development even more interesting is how well it aligns with Guy Gardner’s bigger spotlight outside the comics. After all, Guy’s currently enjoying quite a big platform at the moment across multiple DC projects.
In the new DCU from James Gunn, Guy Gardner has already become the first Green Lantern to appear on-screen in the rebooted universe. Debuting in 2025’s Superman, Guy is played by Nathan Fillion, complete with Gardner’s rough personality and signature bowl-cut (likely explaining why the comics have reverted Guy to the same classic hairstyle).
Fillion’s Guy Gardner also returned for a brief appearance in Peacemaker season 2, continuing to establish his presence in the DCU before even bigger Green Lantern storylines kick off later this year with 2026’s Lanterns. Although the show will prominently feature Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, a Lanterns appearance from Guy Gardner has already been confirmed by Fillion himself.
That means Guy will most likely serve as a key bridge between other DCU projects and the larger Green Lantern mythology that the rebooted DCU franchise is hopefully building toward.
When you combine all of that with his brand-new role as the Allsight in the comics, it’s clear that Guy Gardner is having a major moment right now, as he’s currently one of its most prominent members across mediums.
