The two visionary filmmakers got together to make a simple movie about a deranged serial killer who hires a videographer to help him film a final video for his wife before his imminent death.

Despite its limited budget and straightforward narrative, Creep went on to earn immense acclaim from critics and quickly garnered a cult following. Mike Flanagan, too, sang praise for it (via Dread Central) by saying, “it is one of the most wicked, fun, unsettling found-footage films.” Creep‘s success paved the way for Creep 2, which, as Mike Flanagan quoted, is “just as good.“

Creep 3‘s future remains uncertain, but Brice and Duplass released The Creep Tapes on Shudder in 2024. The Creep Tapes serves as a spin-off to the original films and unfolds more as an anthology, where each episode is a snuff film from the central serial killer’s collection of filmed murders. The show has also been renewed for season 2, which is scheduled to land on Shudder on November 14, 2026.

Like The Creep Tapes season 1, season 2 will feature another line of chilling, self-contained tales, delving deeper into the mind of the central killer. What makes The Creep Tapes season 2 even more exciting is that it will also have horror mainstay David Dastmalchian as one of its cast members.
