Taylor Sheridan Is Leaving Paramount For NBCUniversal

Taylor Sheridan is officially leaving Paramount for good. The Yellowstone creator will be heading to another studio immediately after his contract expires.Rumors have swirled for quite some time now that Sheridan was becoming increasingly unhappy with Paramount. And, now, those observations have been confirmed after the TV icon closed a deal with one of his former studio’s biggest competitors, NBCUniversal. While his eight-year movie agreement, which begins in March 2026, will already be massive, it’s his five-year TV deal in January 2029 that could turn into something groundbreaking.

First published by Puck, his current arrangement with Paramount will last until 2028. After his obligations to the studio are over, he will start to create shows for platforms such as NBC and Peacock. David Glasser’s 101 Studios, the company behind Sheridan’s series, will also transfer over to Universal.

While Sheridan will have to leave behind some of his biggest franchises (Tulsa King, Landman, and Mayor of Kingstown) due to Paramount owning them, this new deal will ultimately still benefit and allow him to gain more than he will lose. The creator will likely receive a lot more freedom with his new contract, allowing him to create a brand-new slate of shows and films.

Sheridan’s departure will also be a huge loss for Paramount. Over the years, the shows he created for it were some of the studio’s biggest names. And, his projects continue to bring in new audiences for them. Without Sheridan at the helm, Paramount could potentially face many challenges, including keeping its viewers engaged after he leaves.
