Superman Ties, DC Easter Eggs & More

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Peacemaker season 2, episode 7

Peacemaker season 2, episode 7 continues the epic connections to James Gunn’s Superman, along with several other fun Easter eggs and DCU ties. Featuring The 11th St. Kids and their mission to bring Chris Smith (John Cena) home from the alternate Nazi reality, the new episode features some great connections and references throughout.

In Peacemaker season 2, episode 6, fan theories were confirmed with the reveal that this alternate DCU is ruled by the Nazis. Now, the other shoe finally drops in this new episode, with major truths being revealed. With that in mind, here are all the biggest Easter eggs, references, Superman cameos, and DCU ties in Peacemaker season 2, episode 7.

The Biggest Easter Eggs and References in Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 7

Mein Kampf – Harcourt points out multiple copies of Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler’s autobiography and political manifesto.

The Nazis Won WW2 (Earth-X) – “Vigilante 2” confirms the Nazis won WWII in their reality, just like in the original DC Comics’ Earth-X.

Nazi Crocs? – One of the Nazi civilians electrocuted by Judomaster is shown wearing Crocs with a Jibbitz charm of a swastika.

Eagly Channels Baby Groot – Needing something to free himself from his chair, Economos is exasperated when Eagly brings him a piece of string, not unlike when Baby Groot initially brought Rocket and Yondu everything but Yondu’s prototype fin in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Cheetos With An “H” At The End – Just like the misspelled Cheerios that Vigilante found in the previous episode, Judomaster finds Cheetos with a different spelling, while commenting they’re not as good as in the main DCU.

Scrobble – Waiting things out, Adebayo and Judomaster play a game of “Scrobble”, another alternate universe spelling of the classic game Scrabble.

Superman’s Sydney Happersen (Rift Expert) – Rick Flag Sr. and Agent Bordeaux meet with Sydney Happersen, one of the LuthorCorp scientists working for Lex in Superman. Played by James Gunn’s good friend Stephen Blackeheart, Sydney is confirmed to be LuthorCorps’s resident dimensional rift expert, now helping ARGUS locate Peacemaker’s portal.

LuthorCorp Command Center – Sydney and ARGUS use the remains of the flying LuthorCorp command center seen in Superman, revealed to be in ARGUS’ custody and kept in a government warehouse.

A Wobble – Providing additional context to Mister Terrific’s explanation in Superman, Sydney confirms Lex Luthor’s dimensional portals always had a wobble on scans due to their instability, confirming they could only be kept open for so long before falling apart and risking a major rift. In comparison, Peacemaker’s Quantum Unfolding Chamber is confirmed to be perfectly stable.

“The Musical Taste Of The Next-Door Boy From Toy Story” – Judomaster’s hilariously specific diss on Peacemaker’s musical taste references Sid Phillips, the primary antagonist from the first Toy Story movie, who took apart toys and blew them up with fireworks.

Detective Fitzgibbon – Played by Lochlyn Munro, an alt-universe Detective Fitzgibbon returns, having first appeared in Peacemaker season 1. The name Fitzgibbon is inspired by James Gunn’s friend Larry Fitzgibbon, and has been featured in several of Gunn’s projects (including other DCU characters in The Suicide Squad and Creature Commandos).

Infernape (Again) – Pokémon gets yet another shoutout in Peacemaker season 2, with the dual Vigilante reiterating that they both love the fire/fighting type Infernape.

Treaty of Qatar? – Chris Smith is arrested in Peacemaker season 2, episode 7’s ending, and an agent tells him his possession of the QUC violates the “Treaty of Qatar”, which has to do with illegal scientific devices. While unclear at the moment, this could be a tie to some other event in the DCU that has yet to be revealed.

The final episode of Peacemaker season 2 releases October 9th, streaming on HBO Max.
