Speaking exclusively to ScreenRant, Bella Shepard described Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 as “crazier… exciting… freeing, and also very meaningful” for her character, Genesis Lythe.

Led by Academy Award winner Holly Hunter, most of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy‘s expansive cast is confirmed to return for season 2. The story for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 is top-secret, other than the cadets and instructors returning to San Francisco for sophomore year. Speaking exclusively to ScreenRant, co-showrunner Noga Landau confirmed that Ocam Sadal (Romeo Carere) will play a bigger role in season 2, and that the War College’s rivalry with Starfleet Academy will continue.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1 featured a tribute to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine that was widely acclaimed by fans and critics. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2 could potentially honor another legacy series and its actors, such as Star Trek: Voyager or Star Trek: Enterprise.

Nus Braka threatened the entire Federation in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 1, but it’s unknown whether Captain Ake and her cadets will face another enemy with the fate of the galaxy at stake in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2.

Meanwhile, the cadets’ college-aged love stories, like Caleb Mir and Tarima Sadal (Zoë Steiner) and the burgeoning romance between Jay-Den Kraag (Karim Diané) and Darem Reymi (George Hawkins) should contiiue as new relationships bloom in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season 2.
