Mikel Oyarzabal continued his fine form for Spain into this World Cup year as he netted twice in a 3-0 friendly win over Serbia.
Oyarzabal had scored six times in qualifying for the finals in the United States, Mexico and Canada, and he continued where he left off with a ruthless double on Friday.
Spain could have won by a wider margin, but there was still a debut goal for substitute Victor Munoz in Villarreal.
A slick team move after 15 minutes created space on the left-hand side of the box for Oyarzabal, who blasted beyond Vanja Milinkovic-Savic for the opener.
Spain almost had a swift second as Lamine Yamal clipped the foot of the right-hand post, before Fermin Lopez was adjudged to have handled prior to sweeping into the net.
Oyarzabal was on the scoresheet again a minute before half-time with another powerful strike into the top-right corner, this time from 25 yards.
24 – With 24 goals in 52 matches, Mikel Oyarzabal has entered the top 10 of @SEFutbol’s all-time leading scorers, sitting just two goals behind Emilio Butragueño (8th with 26 goals).

Veljko Birmancevic was a little unfortunate to be penalised for a soft foul on Marc Cucurella before netting early in the second half.
But that was as good as it got for Serbia, and Munoz, on for Oyarzabal nine minutes prior, smartly steered in the clinching goal.
Data debrief: Mikel a man in form
Oyarzabal was used as an impact substitute at Euro 2024 but had the greatest impact of all in scoring the winner against England in the final, and now he is firmly established as a very effective starter.
This was a 10th consecutive Spain start for the Real Sociedad forward, who has either scored or assisted in each of those games, tallying 11 goals and five assists.
Even with superstars like Yamal in the side, Oyarzabal has proven he can be the main man for Spain at the World Cup.
