Solutions for All 3 Layers

After reaching the middle school in Silent Hill f, you’ll soon find yourself in a room with no apparent way out. The only way to reopen the doors is to solve a box puzzle that’s been placed before you, but with a vague story serving as your only clue, finding the solution can seem a bit overwhelming.

Luckily, the box puzzle is actually a little simpler than it seems. It does, however, end up having three stages, and the last one in particular can be tricky if you don’t have some expertise regarding the shapes of flowers and trees native to Japan.

Secret Box Puzzle Solutions

The clue for the first stage of the box puzzle is a passage about visiting a cafe, which ends with the description of “sweet and tart fruit“ adorning the cake that the two characters ate there. You might be tempted to figure out which fruit is being specifically discussed, but the solution to the box is simpler.

First Box Layer

Slide open the wooden panels to reveal any fruits that could be described as sweet or tart, then flip the box around to do the same thing on the other side. The results should be as follows, with black boxes indicating panels that stay closed:

Second Box Layer

Hit A to confirm your selections, and you’ll gain access to the next stage of the box along with a new clue. This passage talks about filling up journals, so you’ll want to select journals and books from the second set of options.

Third Box Layer

The final clue emphasizes “beautifully blooming sakura“, so you’ll need to select depictions of cherry blossoms or cherry trees. This one is the hardest to navigate, but the correct results are as follows:

Submit this, and you’ll get the Second Floor Classroom Generic Key, allowing you to progress further in the school. Don’t expect a break from puzzling any time soon, though, as this will soon lead you into deciphering Girl Code to figure out locker combinations. That isn’t quite as cryptic as the box, however, so the worst of what the school has to offer in Silent Hill f is already behind you.
