Skyrim Meets Diablo In New Pixel-Art RPG You Can Play Free Now

A new demo just dropped on Steam for an upcoming game that I am very excited about, and if you like games like Diablo and Skyrim, then you probably will be too. Fantasy ARPGs are a hugely popular genre, and when done right, these games can offer hours upon hours of immersive gameplay. Between researching the best skills to learn, delving into the narrative, and, of course, slaying hordes of enemies, it’s easy to see how someone can get sucked into these games.

Of course, Steam recently added dozens of free game demos to the service, but this one is separate from the collection of house-focused demos that are part of the current “House and Home Fest” event. Dimraeth may have a stronghold you can shape, but this game takes us to ancient lands where you must fight to save the land after a magic ritual has gone wrong, and the world is on the edge of ruin.

This Demo Is Getting Very Positive Reviews

Dimraeth is an action adventure RPG that is currently in development, with plans to launch in Early Access this Fall. The game can be played solo or with up to eight players working together to save this beautiful world.

After a ritual went wrong, you wake up in a world on the edge of ruin to find yourself changed. Immortal and bound to long forgotten forces, you are now a champion with the power necessary to fight against the darkness. There are ancient secrets to find and choices to make that can shape the land of Mirkea forever.

The game offers eight races, including Minotaur, and six classes, each with massive skill trees, racial abilities, and class synergies. With real-time combat and over 300 spells for magic users, there’s plenty of strategy to master.

Early Access Will Launch In Fall 2026

Like in Skyrim, after traversing the open-world you can then go home to your own stronghold. You can fill this stronghold with allies that give you quests, upgrade your gear, or even form a romance with you. In true Diablo fashion, there are plenty of things to kill and loot to find throughout this world, and the combat feels so satisfying.

Even the artwork in Dimraeth has that attention to detail, with vibrant handcrafted worlds in a pixel-art style that feels so natural. The monsters, characters, and even just landscape decorations perfectly fit the gameplay and make the entire experience even more fun.

So far, Dimraeth is still in development with its Early Access planned for this fall, but there’s a free demo available now on Steam. This demo offers a good early look at the game, including a repeatable dungeon with difficulty tiers and loot that goes up to legendary quality. Or, if you’d rather just see the game in action, several streamers have taken the opportunity to try it out as well. So check it out, and don’t forget to wishlist Dimraeth to know when the game launches.
