Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim continues to remain a keen admirer of midfielder Kobbie Mainoo despite his lack of regular playing time this campaign, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Portuguese tactician has been under pressure since the start of the campaign, considering United’s lean league form. Despite this, he has stuck with a regular crop of players and has not rotated heavily.
Mainoo has been yearning for starts, but he has been restricted to cameo roles instead. Romano now reports that the England international has been working behind the scenes and has no problems at the moment.
Amorim likewise admires his qualities but the scenario could change in January if Mainoo continues to struggle for game time. He may push for an exit in order to boost his World Cup chances with England.
A number of top European clubs are monitoring him. Napoli are leading the race and could see to reunite Mainoo with Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay in Naples when the transfer window reopens.
