Ronaldo ´very happy´ at Al-Nassr after resolving dispute with club

Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is “very happy” at Al-Nassr and wants to stay at the club after a disagreement with the club’s ownership earlier this month.

Ronaldo sat out two Saudi Pro League games, against Al-Riyadh and Al-Ittihad, as he reportedly felt let down by the club’s hierarchy.

The 41-year-old deemed they had failed to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window, claiming they lacked ambition.

But Ronaldo returned against Al-Fateh, scoring in a 2-0 win before also netting a brace in Saturday’s 4-0 victory over Al-Hazem, which sent them top of the table.

He netted his 500th goal after turning 30 in the latter, and after the match, Ronaldo committed his future to the Saudi Pro League.

“I’m very happy,” Ronaldo told Saudi broadcaster Thmanyah. “As I say so many times, I belong to Saudi Arabia.

“It’s a country that has welcomed me very well, and my family and my friends. I’m happy here, I want to continue here.

“The most important thing is we keep pushing [for the league title], we are there at the top. We do our job, we win, create pressure. Let’s see at the end of the season.”

Ronaldo arrived at Al-Nassr in December 2022 following his departure from Manchester United, and he signed a two-year contract extension last June.

Al-Nassr are one of four clubs majority-owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), along with Al-Ittihah, Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal, who signed Karim Benzema in January and are their closest title contenders.

Al-Nassr currently lead the pack in the Saudi Pro League, holding a one-point lead at the top of the table after leapfrogging Al-Hilal, who dropped points against Al-Ittihad on Saturday.
