Ronaldo on target as Al-Nassr and other Pro League giants ease to victory

Cristiano Ronaldo was among the goalscorers as Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli all claimed routine Saudi Pro League victories.

Three of the league’s superclubs were in action on Tuesday, and all of them had little trouble in taking maximum points.

Ronaldo opened the scoring with a glancing header in Al-Nassr’s 2-0 victory at lowly Al-Wehda, before fellow star name Sadio Mane made sure of the win with a stoppage-time penalty.

Al-Nassr have now reeled off nine straight league wins over Al-Wehda, who sit bottom of the standings on 13 points.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, has now netted 10 times against Al-Wehda in the Pro League – he has scored more against them than any other team in the competition.

Third-place Al-Nassr needed the victory to close back within four points of Al-Hilal, after the defending champions thrashed Al-Kholood 5-1.

Al-Hilal, once again without the injured Aleksandar Mitrovic, were 2-0 up inside four minutes, after goals from Malcom and Salem Al Dawsari.

Malcom grabbed his second in the 20th minute, with Marcos Leonardo netting soon after and Al Dawsari then doubling up early in the second half, before Abdulrahman Al Safari scored a consolation for Al-Kholood.

Al-Ahli wrapped up Tuesday’s action with a 4-1 rout of fourth-place Al-Qadsiah.

Ivan Toney got the ball rolling in the 11th minute for Al-Ahli, who led 3-0 by half-time thanks to Mohammed Sulaiman’s effort and an own goal from former Real Madrid defender Nacho.

Toney doubled his tally with a penalty in the 52nd minute, just after Quinones had pulled one back for Al-Qadsiah.

Al-Ahli sit fifth, three points behind Al-Qadsiah, who saw a seven-match unbeaten streak away from home in the league come to an end.
