Report, result and goals as Cottagers earn bragging rights in West London derby

Fulham produced a lively performance to secure a 3-1 win over Brentford at Craven Cottage, overturning an early setback with an impressive attacking display.

The visitors struck first in the 20th minute when Joshua King’s careless pass inside his own box fell straight to Mikkel Damsgaard, who calmly slotted past Bernd Leno.

That lead, however, lasted just 18 minutes as Fulham hit back with two quick-fire goals. Alex Iwobi capitalised on defensive indecision to fire home a half-volley from close range, before turning provider just 98 seconds later.

His low cross found Harry Wilson, who curled a first-time effort into the bottom corner to put Fulham ahead at the interval.

Marco Silva’s side tightened their grip early in the second half. Ryan Sessegnon’s teasing cross was diverted into his own net by Ethan Pinnock, whose misfortune gifted Fulham a crucial two-goal cushion.

From there, the hosts managed proceedings with maturity, stifling Brentford’s sporadic attacks while creating chances to extend their lead.

Substitute Dango Ouattara twice went close for the visitors, but Leno and the Fulham defence stood firm.

Fulham were the sharper, more clinical side throughout, recording 17 attempts to Brentford’s eight and dominating possession.

Iwobi was at the heart of their creativity, with a goal and assist in the first half, while Wilson’s finish drew a rapturous reception from the home fans.

The victory gives Fulham their first three-goal haul since May and further evidence of progress under Silva. Brentford, meanwhile, continue to struggle for rhythm in the Premier League this season.
