Real Madrid target Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes

Real Madrid are interested in signing Bruno Fernandes from Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. Fernandes has a release clause of €60 million in his contract at Man Utd, and Spanish and European giants Madrid are considering triggering it.

However, Fernandes’s age is an issue, with Madrid having an internal debate over whether or not to pay the release clause for a player who is 31 now.

The report notes: “Bruno Fernandes is 31 years old, a factor that does not entirely convince Florentino Perez.

“The president has been betting in recent years on young signings with potential and resale value.

“However, the club also recognises the need for balance. Incorporating proven experience could be key to support a increasingly young squad in critical moments.

“The internal debate revolves around immediate performance versus long-term prospects.

“Bruno Fernandes offers guarantees from day one but does not entirely fit the usual signing policy.”
