Promising Update After Season 2 Debut

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Nobody Wants This season 2.On the same day that all season 2 episodes debuted on Netflix, Nobody Wants This season 3 gets a promising update from star Kristen Bell. Season 2 of the hit romantic comedy series continues to explore the relationship between agnostic sex and dating podcaster Joanne (Bell) and Rabbi Noah Roklov (Adam Brody).

Nobody Wants This season 2 ends with Joanne and Noah breaking up and getting back together, along with Joanne realizing that she genuinely wants to convert to Judaism. The finale also sees Noah’s brother, Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn) breaking up, along with Joanne’s sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) ending her engagement to Dr. Andy (Arian Moayed).

While season 3 has not been officially renewed by Netflix yet, Bell shared with Parade that the writer’s room for the next season is already underway. She admits that whether season 3 will be shot is “way above our pay grade”, but confirms the scripts are currently being written. Check out her comments below:

The writer’s room is working right now. You never know if you’re gonna be able to shoot because that’s way above our pay grade, and they decide what shows are gonna be shot. But the writer’s room is writing it right now. That we know.

Bell’s update is a promising sign for Nobody Wants This season 3 being renewed, along with another quick turnaround happening between seasons. Many shows do not open a writer’s room until after a new season has been officially renewed, but the early progress indicates the high level of confidence that creator Erin Foster and her creative team have in the series continuing at Netflix.

With the writer’s room already hard at work, and as long as the renewal happens, season 3 could continue the show’s fall release schedule and only a year passing between seasons. Season 1 premiered on September 26, 2024, season 2 came about a year later on October 23, 2025, and season 3 is seemingly on track for a fall 2026 release.

Due to season 1’s dominance on Netflix’s streaming charts, the season 2 renewal was announced on October 10, 2024. Nobody Wants This season 2’s reviews have been largely positive so far, and as long as it performs well on Netflix’s streaming charts, the season 3 renewal could be announced just as quickly, if not sooner.

From Joanne converting to Judaism to Sasha and Esther navigating their breakup, there are already plenty of intriguing storylines for the Nobody Wants This cast to explore in season 3. After bringing in notable guest stars, including Seth Rogen and Brody’s real-life wife Leighton Meester, for season 2, there is also the opportunity to bring in more exciting guest stars next season.
