56 Days Just Dropped On Prime Video – What It’s About

56 Days is a new crime thriller series available to stream right now on Prime Video. The series debuted to a strong Rotten Tomatoes score and is off to a great start on Prime Video’s trending charts, currently ranking as the #4 drama TV series on the platform and climbing.

56 Days stars Dove Cameron as Ciara and Avan Jogia as Oliver, two lovers who rapidly fall into a tension-fueled relationship. 56 days after they met, a body is discovered in their apartment, which they impulsively moved into together during the COVID-19 lockdown. As police search for the killer, they also try to identify the victim, whose body is decomposed in Ciara and Oliver’s bathtub.

56 Days is centered around the mystery of whether Oliver or Ciara is murdered, or whether either of them could be the murderer. Their relationship is pieced together by homicide detectives, one of whom is Lee Reardon, played by Karla Souza, best known for her role as Laurel in How to Get Away with Murder. The other detective is Karl Connolly, played by Dorian Missick, best known for Southland.

56 Days Is The Perfect Length For A Weekend Binge

56 Days was designed to be binge-watched in just a few sittings. It’s on the longer side for an 8-part streaming series, with each episode between 43 and 52 minutes. The total runtime of the series is 6.5 hours, which suggests that it’s best viewed in two or three parts.

56 Days is based on the popular 2021 thriller novel of the same name by bestselling author Catherine Ryan Howard. The series was developed for television by Karyn Usher (Prison Break) and Lisa Zwerling (ER).

If you enjoy twisted romantic thrillers that are centered around a murder mystery, similar to Gillian Flynn’s famous novel Gone Girl and David Fincher’s 2014 film adaptation of it, then 56 Days is worth checking out this weekend, streaming only on Amazon Prime Video.
