Prime Video’s 4-Part Crime Thriller Is The Perfect One-Night Weekend Binge (Surging in U.S.)

One of the biggest surprise hits on Prime Video this weekend is a 4-part crime thriller series released in 2025 that’s suddenly soaring on U.S. streaming charts. With only 4 episodes in its first season, this series is one of the best shows to binge on Prime Video right now.

While this series hasn’t quite garnered the popularity of new Prime Video series like Cross season 2 and 56 Days, it is impressively, and somewhat oddly, trending roughly five months after its world premiere. If you love crime dramas, you won’t want to miss this viral hit.

Lynley Is Surging On U.S. Charts Right Now – What It’s About

The Britbox original series Lynley is making waves on Prime Video’s U.S. streaming charts right now, currently ranking in the Top 10 most popular shows on the streaming service. Lynley was released back in September 2025 and is just not making an impression with U.S. viewers heading into the final stretch of February 2026.

Lynley is one of several onscreen adaptations of the “Inspector Lynley” novels by Elizabeth George. Often compared to Sherlock Holmes, Lynley features unlikely partners, DI Thomas Lynley and DS Barbara Havers, who investigate a mysterious death on an island. While they are essentially two different sides of a coin personality-wise, they end up working together to be a strong crime-solving pair.

Lynley is led by Leo Suter as the titular protagonist and Sofia Barclay as Havers. Each episode features a new crime, making the show easy to access with a traditional format and setting it up to be a long-running franchise. At just four episodes, the series is rather light for a show with a “case of the week” narrative approach, and it is still awaiting confirmation of a potential season 2 renewal.

Lynley is a fairly strong reboot of a classic franchise that deserves a quick weekend binge for fans of crime thrillers, murder mysteries, and police procedurals. Lynley may not feel incredibly original, due to its familiar structure and timeless characters, but it is well-crafted and visually satisfying. The series earned exceptional critical acclaim, resulting in a 91% Rotten Tomatoes score.

With the release of Young Sherlock just days away on Prime Video, Lynley is a suitable substitute to binge-watch in the meantime. Audience feedback has been somewhat mixed, with a common sentiment that the Lynley reboot doesn’t live up to the original series of books. That said, its brief four-episode length leaves a lot of room to grow – if the series is picked up for another season.

Overall, Lynley is a satisfactory crime mystery series that is worth checking out this weekend on Prime Video, as it trends in the United States ahead of the Young Sherlock premiere on March 4.
