Prime Video’s 10-Part Sci-Fi Is The Perfect Watch While Waiting For Pluribus Season 2

Apple TV’s Pluribus season 2 might take a while, but Prime Video’s fantastic sci-fi show will help make the wait easier. The science fiction show Pluribus shouldn’t have succeeded on paper. It’s slow-paced. It’s cerebral and philosophical. Pluribus’s incredible cast isn’t filled with A-listers, minus Rhea Seehorn. However, that didn’t stop Apple TV from giving it a huge vote of confidence.

Before Pluribus even debuted, Apple TV gave the show a 2-season straight-to-series order, which is pretty rare. This means they didn’t have to get a pilot episode approved before making the entire first season, and they didn’t need to wait for a second-season renewal. Looking at the show’s success, they placed their faith in the right TV show.

Pluribus quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. Additionally, it received numerous Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, with Rhea Seehorn winning the 2026 Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama. Given its success, fans are clamouring for more episodes. The good news is that it’s in the works, but the bad news is that it might take a while.

Vince Gillian Is Developing Pluribus Season 2, But It Might Take A While

The pressure on Vince Gillian to get out a second season has to be high, given that it’s Apple TV’s most-watched series in the history of Apple TV. What’s more, fans, including Stephen King (via Twitter), are desperate for the story to continue. Unfortunately, Gillian has provided a few less-than-hopeful yet understandable updates on the timeline of creating Pluribus season 2.

When speaking to Polygon about the next installment, he confirmed that they’re “plugging away on it” as we speak. However, “It is not going quite as fast as I would hope, but we’re hoping there’s lots more excitement and twists and turns. And I think we got some dramatic stuff coming up in season 2.”

It’s great that the team is putting just as much time and attention into the show as they did with season 1, as anything less would be a letdown for fans. That does come with the tradeoff of a longer timeline. Along those same lines, Vince Gillian confirmed that Pluribus season 2 won’t be coming out in 2026. He gave this statement:

“We appreciate everybody’s patience. But it ain’t gonna be The Pitt, coming back every year. I wish it would be because it’s an awesome show that’s old-school, like we used to do The X-Files [when] we’d come back the same month every year. It will not be like The Pitt. We’ll come back the same month — just the question is what year.”

If it comes back in the same month, we’re loosely projecting a November 2027 release, since season 1 came out on November 7, 2025. My hope, if they’re going to spread the Pluribus seasons out like this, is that they can maintain a consistent two-year release cycle. Even if it’s longer than all of us fans would like, that would at least give us an expectation.

Prime Video’s The Feed Is An Underrated Hive-Mind Sci-Fi

While Pluribus is a clever take on a hive-mind storyline, it’s far from the first show to go that route. That has been a part of sci-fi TV and movies for decades, which means there are plenty of alternatives to choose from. One of the most underrated TV shows in this niche is the British TV show The Feed.

The series was released on Virgin TV Ultra HD in the UK and Amazon Prime Video in most other places. The story takes place in a near-future version of London, where a man named Lawrence Hatfield invents a brain microchip that can instantly connect everyone’s thoughts, knowledge, and memories.

However, the Hatfield family soon realizes that the chip can be used for bad. The users begin murdering others when the technology falls into the wrong hands. This issue absolutely tears apart the family that started it all. While The Feed is nowhere near as good as Pluribus, it’s certainly a solid TV show that fans of the hive-mind concept will love.

The Feed Is The Perfect Way To Bide Time Until Apple TV’s Pluribus Season 2

Pluribus and The Feed feel like they go hand in hand because of their clear allusions to ongoing technological topics. If Pluribus’s hive mind is a commentary on AI, then The Feed’s commentary is about social media.

Both series move extremely slowly at the start and focus on the characters affected rather than on action. They tend to ask very philosophical questions about what it means to be human and about the dangers of tools like AI and social media, which can help or hurt us depending on how they’re used.

However, they do have unique elements, like the willingness of folks to become part of the Feed in the Prime Video show. Additionally, the start of The Feed is slow, but it becomes faster and more gripping as it goes on. Their similarities make them great shows to watch back-to-back, and the differences are enough to keep Pluribus and The Feed interesting.
