Prime Video Adapting First U.S. Movie From Bestselling Author After Hit Romance Trilogy Dominated Top 10 Charts

Prime Video is adapting the first U.S. movie from bestselling author Mercedes Ron after her hit romance trilogy dominated the Top 10 charts.

Mercedes Ron is the Spanish author behind the Culpables trilogy, which was adapted into Prime Video’s popular trilogy of romance movies. The streamer has a wider partnership with the author, known as “House of Ron,” which includes a total of 10 adaptations that have been released or are upcoming and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Now, Amazon MGM Studios is developing a movie adaptation of 30 Sunsets Para Enamorarte (30 Sunsets to Fall in Love), the first book in Mercedes Ron’s Bali trilogy. This marks the first U.S. adaptation of the Spanish author’s novels and the latest project in Prime Video’s “House of Ron” partnership.

30 Sunsets to Fall in Love follows Nikki, a veterinarian living in Bali who teaches yoga on the side. When a pilot named Alex arrives on the island hoping to escape the hustle of London, Nikki quickly falls for him, but with just 30 days together, it’s uncertain whether either of them is ready to make a real commitment.

This comes after the Culpables movies – Culpa Mia (2023), Culpa Tuya (2024), and Culpa Nuestra (2025) – have received over 100 million views worldwide. They have reached the number one spot on Prime Video in over 170 countries, with over 90% of their views coming from outside Mercedes Ron’s home country of Spain.

Culpa Nuestra finished No. 1 on Prime Video’s Top 10 non-English language originals for 2025.

Prime Video’s “House of Ron” partnership also includes Dimelo Bajito, Dímelo en Secreto, the Enfrentados duology (Marfil and Ebano). There is also an English-language remake of the Culpables movies based in the UK, which includes My Fault: London (2025) with Your Fault: London (2026) and Our Fault: London on the way.

The announcement was made at a Prime Video international event where Mercedes Ron discussed her collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, saying:

It’s been amazing, we’ve been working for three years now, and I feel that Amazon trust me, and I can trust them… And if I had to highlight one thing it would be that Amazon really loves these kinds of YA stories and understand the fandom and respect them so well, so that’s why I think people are saying Amazon is making the best adaptations of books.
