President upbeat over Harry Kane contract talks

Kane’s contract expires at the end of next season.

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane is extremely comfortable at the club, according to honorary president Uli Hoeness, who struck an upbeat tone when asked about the England striker extending his stay beyond 2027.

Kane’s contract at the Allianz Arena runs until the end of the 2026-27 campaign, and Bayern have opened discussions about him signing an extension to continue a partnership that his yielded huge dividends for player and club.

The former Tottenham forward has scored 133 goals in 136 games in all competitions for Die Roten since his move from Spurs in 2023.

He won his first major trophy last season as Bayern regained the Bundesliga from Bayer Leverkusen, and Vincent Kompany’s side remain on course for a treble this term.

Bayern are nine points clear of Borussia Dortmund with seven games remaining of the Bundesliga season. They face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month and are into the last four of the DFB-Pokal, in which they are set to take on Leverkusen.

In addition, Bayern are just five goals shy of breaking the record for goals by a team in a single Bundesliga season, set when their 1971-72 vintage found the net 101 times.

Kane has contributed 31 league goals to that cause, and Hoeness is seemingly confident Bayern will be able to rely on his services beyond next season.

“Kane didn’t exercise his release clause, which means he’s definitely under contract here until summer 2027,” Hoeness told Kicker.

“What I’m hearing and feeling is that he and his family feel extremely comfortable here. You never know when a Saudi comes along and puts a lot of money on the table. But he feels very much at home.”

Bayern face Freiburg next Saturday in the Bundesliga before travelling to Madrid for the first leg of their quarter-final tie three days later.
