Every now and again, an Xbox title makes its way to the PlayStation Plus library after losing its exclusive status, and one addition to the PS Plus Extra and Premium libraries has got fans talking after offering hours of fun for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users.

Added to the PS Plus library in September 2025, the game in question was available for free for a limited time, but if you did claim the freebie, but have not played it yet, maybe these positive reviews will finally convince you.

The game in question is Xbox and Double Fine’sPsychonauts 2, a 2021platform game and sequel to the 2005 title with the same name. Players take on the role of Raz, a young acrobat who is currently in training to become a Psychonaut, a member of an international task force who is capable of wielding psychic forces. Receiving generally favorable reviews from critics and the audience alike, Psychonauts 2 was praised for platforming, level design, visuals, tone, and improvements on the original.

Boasting an 87 to 91 Metacritic score, multiple award nominations, and was even considered for the coveted Game of the Year trophy, it was no wonder that many PlayStation Plus subscribers snapped up Psychonauts 2 when it was added to the platform back in September.

Psychonauts 2 Is GOTY Material

As mentioned, Psychonauts 2 is no longer available for free in the PlayStation Plus library, but if you grabbed your free copy and have not yet played it, maybe a thread over on r/PlayStationPlus may just convince you after one user posted, “Never thought I’d end up enjoying Psychonauts 2.” They continued, “Part of the monthly game lineup (can’t even remember which month), but never bothered to try it until now. Thankfully, I added it to my library anyway. I’m blown away by how beautiful the art design is, even being a PS4 version. Planning to go for the platinum trophy!”

It seems as though this original poster was not the only one to share this sentiment, as other fans soon flocked to the comments to share their thoughts. “This really is a stellar game. I need to return to it myself,” one said, whilst another added, “Started playing it this weekend. Loved the first game and having a lot of fun with this one. Forgot how good the humor is in this series.” With fans praising its humor, character designs, and endless fun, it seems as though PlayStation Plus was on to a good one when they added Psychonauts 2 to its library.
