PlayStation Plus First Free Game For March 2026 Slammed By Subscribers

The PlayStation Plus offerings have been impressively consistent over the last year or more, bringing some amazing titles to players at no additional cost beyond their subscription. Huge titles like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Alan Wake II, and Alone in the Dark all arrived in 2025 in the Essentials tier of the service alone, and it was arguably the best year in the service’s history.

2026 is now well underway, and though there have been some solid inclusions, it has been notably less impressive than the same time last year. Unfortunately, the first reveal for the March line-up is equally underwhelming for many, and players are making their voices heard on the choices made by Sony this time around.

PlayStation Plus’ First March Free Game Called “Worthless” By Fans

Over on Reddit, one fan shared confirmation that Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is the first reveal for the March selection of PlayStation Plus games. If you didn’t already know, Dark Resurrection is the standalone PSP version of the fifth game in the storied fighting series, and it’s safe to say that fans think it’s an odd choice.

“The way my face frowned when I saw it was the PSP version. Please don’t be a repeat of T6 with no multiplayer. That was stupid,” one Redditor commented, hopefully.

“Genuinely baffles me why they went for PSP DR and not for the PS2 original. Like they can’t emulate DR on the PS3, that’s fine, but PS2 OG is right there! So much more single-player content too,” another added.

“Lol I love how they release every Tekken game before PS2 Tekken 5 which had Tekken 1, 2 and 3 included,” a third contested.

As some of the other comments point out, there are some benefits to Sony going with the PSP release, over the more popular PS2 version. The handheld game has a larger roster that includes Lili, Sergei Dragunov, and King, as well as additional modes like the Dojo.

The Rest Of The March Lineup Will Be Unveiled Soon

The rest of the PlayStation Plus lineup will be announced on March 18, after many of the picks for February go live on the service.

In an unusual change from their regular approach, we already know the first free game for March on PS Plus, with the original Time Crisis hitting PS Plus for the first time. The company has also confirmed that co-op puzzle game Big Walk will join the proverbial party in 2026, though we don’t have a specific release date for that just yet.
