One Piece’s anime has been on a roll since returning for the Egghead Arc, but it’s no secret that the series has been hit with frustrating delays and recap episodes. However, Toei Animation and the anime appear to be tackling this issue head-on, taking a hiatus between January and March 2026, with a major shift in the episode release schedule.

As confirmed by the One Piece official YouTube channel’s latest news livestream, the anime’s change comes amid a flurry of exciting updates about the anime, live-action show, and various collaborations. It will enable a tighter ratio of anime episodes to manga chapters than even before, with the hope of an even pacing going forward.

Beyond the logistical change allowing for fewer recap/filler episodes and likely more even pacing, this will likely also reduce strain further on production for the anime going forward. The January to March 2026 break for One Piece will be followed by what appears to be their spin on the seasonal model, effectively releasing one episode every two weeks, on average.
