Newcastle push for Wissa transfer after initial offer rejected

Newcastle are still fighting to restore the stability of their striker department after the departure of Callum Wilson and learning of the desire of Alexander Isak to leave as well. They are reportedly preparing an offer for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as potential Isak replacement, and they’ve already embarked upon the mission of signing Yoane Wissa from Brentford to provide cover.

Having seen an initial offer of £25million for the services of the 28-year-old rejected, the Magpies are, according to Ben Jacobs, set to continue discussions with Brentford over the weekend.

The Bees would like to keep hold of Wissa, as the only remainder of the formidable attacking trio also including Ivan Toney (joined Al-Ahli last year) and Bryan Mbeumo (signed for Manchester United a few days ago). They are, however, aware that Wissa is keen on the idea of moving to St. James’s Park and it seems they’ll have to express a valuation of his services, which apparently stands at £40million at this point.
