Newcastle defender Livramento out for two months

Newcastle defenderTino Livramento will be missing for eight weeks with the knee injury that forced him to miss out on the latest England squad.

The versatile full-back, 22, injured his knee against Arsenal last week after an awkward landing.

Manager Eddie Howe said: “Tino went to see a specialist a couple of days ago as the scan initially looked better than we thought it was.

“He has confirmed it is looking like an eight-week injury, which is a blow given our schedule, but it is looking better than what we initially feared.”

Kieran Trippier, who was linked with a move away from the club during the summer, will now fill in and Howe said he is pleased with the quality in his squad.

“That is the beauty of the squad and the strength of the squad we have, which will make a difference for us. We have real depth in the strength of the defensive areas,” Howe added.

“Losing Tino is a big blow for us with his athleticism and quality, but I have spoken many times about the role Kieran plays and his experience and quality he brings to the squad.”
