New England QB Maye ready to go while Kubiak focused on Seattle

Drake Maye trained fully yesterday and declared himself ready to go for Super Bowl LX

New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye says he’ll be “just fine” for Super Bowl LX, allaying fears over his throwing shoulder.

Maye damaged the joint during the AFC Championships game against the Denver Broncos and, while his availability for the Sunday showpiece was never in serious doubt, there was an element of concern that his range of throwing could be impacted.

However, the 23-year-old trained in full on Monday and hinted the warmer climes of California would do him the world of good as the build up to the clash with the Seattle Seahawks got underway.

Maye said: “I’m feeling good. I’ll be just fine.

“I think turned a corner landing on the flight – felt good from the flight – and throwing out there today. I really had no doubt in being 100 percent for the game. It’s the Super Bowl, you get two weeks to prepare for it. Do whatever you have to do to get it right, and I’ve got confidence and feel good.”

Kubiak ‘all-in on the Seahawks’

Seattle’s media availability was dominated by the subject of offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak’s possible departure after the Super Bowl.

Kubiak met with the Raiders and the Cardinals for a second time over the weekend and is expected to get the head coach’s job with Las Vegas.

He insisted, however, that any future move would now be put on the back burner until after Sunday’s game. Kubiak said: “I can just tell you I’m all-in on the Seahawks, I’m all-in on this game, and whatever comes next, we’ll deal with that on Monday.

“I’ve been working my whole life to coach in this game, and that’s where our focus is.”

The Seahawks finished the regular season eighth in offensive scoring with Kubiak and quarterback Sam Darnold dovetailing perfectly.

“He’s unbelievable,” said Darnold of Kubiak. “He wakes up at insane hours. He gets to the facility at 4, 4:30 in the morning, and he’s there later than anyone. He’s a grinder. He loves football. And he’s very honest, and he’s very forthcoming with his players, [which] myself and a lot of the guys really appreciate.”
