Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia had yet another impressive streaming achievement a full month after its third season premiered. Ginny & Georgia season 3 was an instant hit for Netflix, and it quickly moved up the ranks of the streaming service’s charts. In fact, it was such a success that Ginny & Georgia season 4 already has a filming window for later this year.
According to Nielsen, Ginny & Georgia was the most popular TV show or movie in America in the week of June 2 (via The Hollywood Reporter). Ginny & Georgia racked up 2.88 billion minutes of viewership, though some of that time may have come from the first two seasons of Ginny & Georgia, both of which gained renewed popularity in the lead-up to season 3.
Ginny & Georgia also had the fourth-biggest week of any show in 2025 so far, being beaten only by Squid Game season 2 and two weeks of The Night Agent, both Netflix originals. The show’s popularity hasn’t decreased much, either: Ginny & Georgia season 3 is still the seventh most popular show on Netflix in the United States at the time of writing (via FlixPatrol).
What Ginny & Georgia’s Popularity Means For Netflix & The Future Of The Show
Netflix May Have Found A Popular Replacement For Shows Like Squid Game & Stranger Things
The popularity Ginny & Georgia has gotten has already helped secure its future, but it could do much more. As previously mentioned, Ginny & Georgia season 4 was a no-brainer after season 3’s success. Ginny & Georgia is also one of those shows with a premise that could seemingly last forever, however, so the series could easily last well beyond a fourth season.
Ginny & Georgia‘s recent success is likely even more important to Netflix considering how many of its other flagships are ending. The ending of Squid Game season 3 was the final installment, while Stranger Things season 5 will also be its series finale at the end of 2025. With so many massive shows ending, Netflix needs replacements, and it may have found one in Ginny & Georgia.

Ginny & Georgia Season 3’s Ending May Have Told Us Who Threw The Brick Through Georgia’s Window
Georgia received a violent threat in Ginny & Georgia season 3, and one scene in this installment’s final episode may have hinted at who sent it.
It’s also worth noting that Ginny & Georgia has something many other Netflix shows lack: staying power. Even a month later, Ginny & Georgia season 3 is still drawing in viewers, something that Netflix’s binge-release format doesn’t usually encourage. It’s yet another indication that Ginny & Georgia is profitable to Netflix and could go on for a very long time.
Our Take On Ginny & Georgia Season 3’s Success
I Hope Ginny & Georgia Inspires Netflix To Branch Out Even More
Yet another thing that makes Ginny & Georgia unique among Netflix’s other hit shows is its genre. Unlike thriller shows like Squid Game or The Night Agent, Ginny & Georgia is a family drama akin to Gilmore Girls. I hope that Ginny & Georgia‘s success helps convince Netflix to take a chance on genres other than action thrillers, because it’s clearly proven to work.

With any luck, we may get shows like Ginny & Georgia – ones that cater to an underserved but huge niche of viewers – in the future. If Netflix learns the right lesson from this, it could end up with long-running sitcoms, documentaries, mysteries, and more. I’d never complain about a more diverse catalog, and I’d certainly never blame Ginny & Georgia for making it possible.
