Napoli are in the final stage of negotiations to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Denmark international has fallen out of favour after the arrival of Benjamin Sesko, and he has not made the squad in the first two games.

Napoli are now in advanced talks with United over a loan deal for the striker. They are ready to include a mandatory buy clause of £40 million.

The club are currently discussing terms with the former Atalanta man and remain optimistic of convincing the striker in the coming hours.

Napoli manager Antonio Conte is reportedly pushing for the move, having lost the services of Romelu Lukaku due to a thigh injury.

Lukaku could be on the sidelines for the next three months at least. Hojlund could compete with Lorenzo Lucca for the number nine role.

Alongside Hojlund, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho are expected to head for the exit door before the transfer deadline.
