Monsters Inc. 3 Reportedly In Development At Pixar

Pixar’s highly speculated Monsters, Inc 3 has reportedly been confirmed to be in development.

According to the Wall Street Journal, several reliable insiders have confirmed that the third installment of the beloved Monsters Inc. franchise will become a reality within the next couple of years. However, the studio itself has not confirmed any details about the progress of Monsters, Inc 3 at the time of this article’s publication.

The franchise began with the 2001 hit Monsters, Inc, directed by Pete Docter. The film introduced audiences to Monstropolis, where creatures generate energy through screams by sneaking into children’s rooms at night and scaring them. The movie followed the journey of James P. “Sulley” Sullivan (John Goodman) and his friend Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) after a kid who they named Boo (Mary Gibbs) accidentally entered their world.

The movie became a massive box office hit and one of Pixar’s most recognizable properties. The commercial success eventually led to a prequel in 2013, Monsters University. That film showed the origin story of Mike and Sulley’s friendship, when they first met in college and were training for their future careers.

More recently, the Monsters, Inc franchise expanded to TV. Disney+ released a series called Monsters at Work in 2021. It followed a new group of employees, Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), Val Little (Mindy Kaling), Fritz (Henry Winkler), and Duncan P. Anderson (Lucas Neff) as they navigate the company’s shift from scaring children to making them laugh (which also generates power). The show also sees the return of Crystal and Goodman.

Although Pixar has yet to officially confirm these reports, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if there is another Monsters, Inc film in development. The studio has created several sequels for its well-established franchises, such as Toy Story and Cars. These claims are also from a very reputable publication, which adds to the validity of Monsters, Inc 3.

There is no official release date for Monsters, Inc 3 at the time of this article’s publication.
