Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Gabriel Martinelli following his late equaliser against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Gunners looked on course for their second defeat of the league campaign at the Emirates Stadium, but Martinelli came off the bench to bag a stoppage time leveller.
The Brazil international got on the end of a superb long ball from Eberechi Eze. He managed to lob his effort beyond the grasp of the onrushing Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Speaking after the game, Arteta hailed the 24-year-old’s effort saying: “his energy again, his attitude was really good and that’s why he made the impact that he made again for the team.”
Arsenal are currently second in the standings after the stalemate, but they have dropped five points adrift of leaders Liverpool and have plenty of catching up to do in the coming weeks.
The Gunners face Newcastle United at St James’ Park this weekend and the game already feels like a must-win for the north London giants.
