Arteta on Arsenal injured duo

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber could be in contention to face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

The Gunners are scheduled to face the Cityzens at Wembley Stadium tomorrow and ahead of the final, Arteta has provided some positive news on the injury upfront.

The Spanish tactician said that Odegaard and Timber will be assessed in the final training session on Saturday and they are expected to undergo late fitness tests for the game.

Odegaard’s absence has seen Eberechi Eze shine from the number 10 position  and the Englishman is expected to continue even if the club captain returns to the squad.

On the other hand, Jurrien Timber has been almost ever-present in the right-back role ahead of Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White, and should start if he is deemed fit enough.

Arsenal will aim to win their first piece of silverware since August 2020 when they beat Chelsea to lift the FA Cup title at Wembley Stadium.
