Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Leandro Trossard was not involved against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League due to an injury concern.
The Belgian picked up a knock during the first half of the FA Cup fifth round win at Mansfield Town and he was immediately replaced from the starting line-up.
Trossard was back in training before the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie, but he was not part of the matchday squad to face Leverkusen last night.
Speaking after the game, Arteta said: “”Yes he trained yesterday but he wasn’t comfortable to play,” Arteta said. “He said he was still feeling something. You need at this level to play 100 percent and he wasn’t.”
Arsenal played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the former German champions. Their focus will now turn to the Premier League clash against Everton at home.
The Gunners are seven points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand. Arsenal will be eyeing a fourth-straight league win on Saturday.”
