Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that Martin Odegaard was phenomenal during the recent 2-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League.
The Gunners picked up a third-straight win by beating the Greek champions. Odegaard made his first start since his latest shoulder injury and he came up with a man of the match performance.
The Norwegian provided the through ball for Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede only managed to hit the woodwork, but Gabriel Martinelli scored with a simple tap-in from the rebound soon after.
Odegaard missed a glorious chance to double the club’s advantage in the second half, but he made amends at the death, provided an assist for Bukayo Saka‘s stoppage-time goal.
Speaking after the game, Arteta was full of praise for the skipper and said that he was phenomenal against Olympiacos on the night.
He said: “I think he put three people through today to score a goal, he should have scored a goal as well, so great to have him back.
“He played some very good minutes in Newcastle to help us to win the game, and I think today he was phenomenal.”
