Carrick drops Dalot for Mazraoui

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has dropped Diogo Dalot from the starting line-up for the Premier League clash against Newcastle United on the road.

Dalot has been ever-present in the right-back position for the Red Devils under Carrick, but the 44-year-old has made a surprise change for tonight’s clash against the Magpies at St James’ Park.

In the Portuguese’s place, Noussair Mazraoui has got the nod at right-back tonight. The Moroccan came on as a first-half substitute for Shaw at left-back against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Mazraoui was brilliant in his short appearance, winning 100 percent of his aerial duels and completing 93 percent of his passes. He has now been rewarded with his first start under Carrick.

United are aiming to go the league double over the Magpies for the first time since 2020/21. They beat the Tyneside outfit by a slender 1-0 scoreline during the reverse fixture on Boxing Day.

Patrick Dorgu scored the winner at Old Trafford with a stellar volley.
