Marvel Rivals Season 5 – Release Date, New Characters, and Romantic Themes

After the release of Daredevil, Marvel Rivals is gearing up for Season 5, likely to introduce new characters, skins, and other content to the popular hero shooter. Like previous seasons, players have in-game ways to predict which new heroes might be added into the game. By following Marvel Rivals‘ roadmap, they can also find out when Season 5 is likely to start and end too.

Season 4 teased Daredevil through in-game lore in Season 3, hinting at the man without fear long before his announcement in an appropriate trailer. Similarly, X user XOXLEAK has long dove into the game’s files to bring up voice lines and other data tied to possible character interactions. This has made it much easier to make an accurate guess about which heroes could be next on Marvel Rivals‘ roster.

When Does Season 5 Of Marvel Rivals Release?

Roadmap Schedules Point To The Same Date

By following the scheduled duration of every Season of Marvel Rivals, it is easy to see that Season 5 will begin on November 14, 2025. Although the exact times for each region have not been mentioned yet, a trailer within the next week or two will likely provide more information.

This date will likely conclude all Season 4.5 events within the game, preventing players from earning different limited-time rewards. This includes some deals on character costumes seen in the Store.

The predicted date here follows the roadmap changes to Marvel Rivals established in Season 3, where seasons would last two months rather than three. This accelerated plan has seen two characters release at the start and midpoint of each Season, a trend that will likely continue in Season 5 as well.

Rogue & Gambit May Be Season 5’s Next Characters

In the past, Gallery Cards found in the seasonal Battle Pass hold clues pertaining to the game’s next characters, allowing players to make predictions without leaks. Former Gallery Cards from events have also hinted at larger seasonal themes, a good example being one lore Card mentioning Knull’s awakening prior to Season 3.

One such Gallery Card introduced in Season 4.5 is called “Raising the Stakes,” whose title already implies a connection to the exploding card-wielding X-Men, Gambit. With the common action of gambling being this Card’s starting point, it can almost be assumed that Gambit himself is writing it, as the lore is in the form of a letter addressed to Shao-Lao.

The letter of “Raising the Stakes” goes on to describe gratitude toward the postponing of the Shenloong Tournament, an event in Marvel Rivals that would give rise to the new Iron Fist in the game’s lore.

Although this Gallery Card is being written by another Marvel Comics figure, The Grandmaster, a P.S. at the end of the letter provides even better hints than its title. The end of the letter reads “And if you play your cards right and they don’t drain every last bit of your life force, I may make an appearance at your next tournament myself…”

The line about draining life force could be a very direct reference to Rogue, the X-Men whose powers involve taking someone’s vitality with a touch. With “playing cards” being another hint at Gambit, Season 5 might have the two X-Men appear as the next playable characters for Marvel Rivals.

Season 5 May Revolve Around Themes Of Love Or Romance

Many Couples Within The Game Could Gain Some Spotlight

When considering Rogue and Gambit as Season 5’s characters, there are a lot of themes that could surround their inclusion. Multiple leaks have suggested that Season 5 may revolve around “love and romance” as its theme, which will likely be reflected in available costumes in the seasonal Battle Pass.

A season centered around romance would be almost the tonal opposite of Season 4’s conflict between Daredevil and Angela in the Heart of Heaven. The lighthearted atmosphere might be a nice change of pace for the game, taking a departure from the abyssal battle against Knull on Klyntar and the intense angel vs devil motiff of Season 4.

The romantic tone of Season 5 could also bring about a new map tied to Rogue and Gambit’s history. Some maps could include the X-Mansion, where the X-Men gather rather than the island of Krakoa introduced in Season 2. While not strictly an X-Men season, it is likely that locations from that side of Marvel Comics will be heavily referenced throughout these characters, if they are added.

Other strong possibilities for a character in Season 5 could be Scott Summers, aka Cyclops. This would still follow the “romance” theme of the Season, mainly for Cyclops’ relationship with Jean Grey’s Phoenix.

Characters like Mister Fantastic and Sue Storm, Storm and Black Panther, and even Black Widow and Winter Soldier may gain more attention in a romance Season as well. These could manifest in certain skins for each character being available in Season 5, but the existence of characters with past or current relationships gives a lot of merit to the possible seasonal theme.

While not confirmed as of this time of writing, Rogue and Gambit seem to be the most likely characters, with their long-lasting love from the comics driving the theme for the next Season. Whether Season 5 confirms this or not in Marvel Rivals, these two would be excellent for the roster, adding great personalities and unique abilities to a game that could always use fresh content.
