Marvel has set the stage for the introduction of a quartet of new heroes and villains. A long-simmering storyline starring “Brooklyn’s Finest” Spider-Man, Miles Morales, is finally reaching a boiling point, and the result is going to be the empowerment of four new Marvel characters. Let’s take a look at what we know about them so far.
Marvel has revealed the details of Reborn: Ultimate Impact #1, written by Chris Condon, with art by Stefano Caselli. The issue is confirmed to feature the debut of two new villains, Mogul and Hostilicus, and two heroes: Sightseer, and a new version of Wonder Man.
Check out variant covers for the issue featuring the new characters below, along with more details about what to expect from Ultimate Impact.
Marvel Announces 4 New Characters Making Their Debut In 2026
Introducing: Hostilicus, Mogul, Sightseer, And Marvel’s New Wonder Man
If you’re out of the loop, the thing you need to know heading into Reborn: Ultimate Impact is that Miles Morales is currently in possession of a set of powerful Marvel artifacts known as the Origin Boxes. As their name suggests, the Boxes are like origin story shortcuts. Whoever opens one gets the superpowers contained within, for better or worse.
Ever since Miles brought the Boxes into the mainstream Marvel Universe in last year’s Ultimate Incursion storyline, they’ve been “Checkov’s Origin Boxes.” Marvel readers have been waiting for them to go off. Now, we have our first look at what the result is going to be when they do. That is: Mogul, Hostilicus, Seer, and a brand-new Wonder Man.
And possibly more. Here’s what Ultimate Impact author Chris Condon teased of his new Marvel characters:
There are quite a few, and I love them all. We have Sightseer, who can see beyond the veil. We have Mogul, who is unstoppably persuasive as a media executive. We have Wonder Man, who hails from my home state of New Jersey (and, yes, this is his most important attribute). These characters, including Hostilicus, will enter into the 616 Universe and find themselves up against Marvel’s greatest heroes (and anti-heroes). What you will see is an action-packed five-part story that is thrilling, intriguing, and, most importantly, fun.
Of Hostilicus, Condon specifically said he’s “not sure the Marvel Universe is ready for him…” In other words, Ultimate Impact is aptly titled. These characters seem specifically designed, and intended, to debut in Marvel lore as immediate gamechangers.
What We Know So Far About Marvel’s Slate Of New Characters
Marvel’s “Origin Boxes” Storyline Is Finally Paying Off
In addition to our first looks at Marvel’s important new characters, the variant covers for Reborn: Ultimate Impact #1 also showcase teasers for each new hero and villain. Well, mostly. For Wonder Man, we only get a human name: “Vin Lerner.” But for Hostilicus, we learn he’s the “Scourge of the Negative Zone,” while Mogul’s tagline ominously notes, “nothing can stop him now.”
Meanwhile, Sightseer’s cryptically says only “seeing is believing.” Per Chris Condon, we know the character can “see beyond the veil.” Her costume evokes both Doctor Strange and Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel. Of course, we’re operating on the assumption Sightseer will be a hero, but that’s not guaranteed. However, considering Hostilicus and Mogul both have the potential to be major villains, it’s fair to expect Marvel to introduce a new heroic counterpart.
Could “Ultimate Impact” Have More Surprise Characters In Store?
Marvel’s New 5-Part Series Isn’t Giving Away All It’s Twists & Turns…Yet
Notably, it seems Hostilicus actually might not be one of the characters empowered by the Origin Boxes. Instead, he’ll be introduced as an Ultimate Universe offshoot of Marvel villain Annihilus. If that’s the case, that means there’s at least one Box still in play, and at least one new character Marvel is holding back as a surprise for when Ultimate Impact drops.
Many Marvel fans were caught off guard by the publisher’s decision to end its revitalized Ultimate line of comics in 2026. But Marvel promised its Ultimate Endgame was part of a larger plan, and that it would have long-term ramifications for Marvel canon. Now that we know more about Reborn: Ultimate Impact, the next phase of that plan has come into focus. And the Marvel Universe is about to look dramatically different.
Reborn: Ultimate Impact #1 will be available May 20, 2026 from Marvel Comics.
Sound off Marvel fans. Which of these 4 new characters are you most excited about? Mogul, Hostilicus, Sightseer, or the all-new Wonder Man?
