Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided a big injury update on Cole Palmer ahead of the Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The England international has had a mixed start to the current campaign. He has made some meaningful goal contributions, but has also been struggling with a nagging groin problem.
Palmer was substituted in the first half of the Premier League loss to Manchester United last weekend and Maresca has now revealed that he will be rested for the next few weeks.
Speaking in his pre-match presser before the Brighton game, Palmer told reporters: “We decided to protect a little bit, in terms of don’t get worse.
“We decide to rest him for the next 2-3 weeks until the international break, just to see if with that rest he can recover to 100 percent and be completely fit.”
Chelsea have suffered plenty of injuries during the early part of the campaign. Against Brighton, they will also be without Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana due to an injury and concussion respectively.
